India e-Visa for Canadian Citizens
Which part of your India trip should you settle first: the purpose, the price or the paperwork? This guide takes them in that order, in five short chapters for Canadian passport holders.
General information only: it cannot confirm eligibility or promise an outcome.

If a trip mixes purposes, confirm the current guidance rather than guess; the three categories are laid out together on the visa options page.
Understand the Prices
These are published website service prices in USD. No Canada-specific price is published, so the standard list applies to every row, and Express is the higher price in each one.
| Visa and duration | Regular (USD) | Express (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Tourist e-Visa30 days | USD 85 | USD 105 |
| Tourist e-Visa1 year | USD 140 | USD 180 |

Check the Timing
Each service has one published estimate, counted in working days. The site publishes no Canada-specific timing.
Regular: 4–5 working daysExpress: 2–3 working days
These are estimates: approval and delivery dates are not guaranteed.
Prepare Your Documents
Read these five notes in order; the first two apply to every purpose.
- Passport bio-data page. Keep the passport you will travel on at hand and scan its bio-data page clearly. Every list names it.
- Photograph. A recent color photograph is on every list. Photograph requirements may vary, so check the current specifications before applying.
- Purpose documents. Beyond those two items, each purpose names its own papers, such as a hospital letter for treatment. Your category page lists them.
- Consistency. Names, passport details and dates should read the same everywhere. Save clear, readable files and review them once more.
- Current conditions. The requirements guide is a general guide, not an exhaustive list, and conditions can change, so check them before you commit to plans.

Questions from Canadian Travelers
Which category applies if my trip has a work part and a leisure part?
Name the main reason for going and read that category's page, then confirm current guidance for the rest rather than guessing. The visa options page lays the three categories out together.
Do Canadians pay a different price?
No Canada-specific price is published on this website. The figures in chapter 2 are the standard website service prices in USD, and the fees page shows each option with its entry type and validity.
What do the working-day estimates mean for my travel dates?
The estimates, 4–5 working days for Regular and 2–3 for Express, describe the service rather than an outcome. Approval and delivery are not guaranteed, so leave a margin before booking anything hard to change.
What should I scan or prepare first?
The bio-data page of your passport and a recent color photograph, which every purpose lists. Extra papers depend on your purpose, so check the requirements guide, and remember that photograph requirements may vary.
What should Canadian passport holders have ready before applying for an India eVisa?
Choose the category and service level that match your trip, then have your passport details, a recent photograph, your travel dates and any supporting documents ready, so you can enter every detail exactly as it appears in your documents.
