Tourist e-Visa
Holidays, sightseeing and time with friends or relatives. Short courses and short-term volunteering add a letter from the course provider or voluntary organization.
Tourist e-Visa pageA British passport is where this page starts, but the trip itself decides the rest. India has three e-Visa categories here, each tied to a purpose, so the first job is to put your journey into one of them.
After that, three things matter: the price of the option you would choose, the time you should allow, and the papers to have ready. Two of the five options carry prices set specifically for the United Kingdom, and they are marked so they are easy to find.

The website lists its own United Kingdom prices for the Tourist e-Visa (5 years) and the Business e-Visa (1 year), and the page tags both. No reason for the difference is given. The other three options use the general list, and the fees page shows the same figures.
Take the purpose that matters most as your starting category, then check current guidance carefully instead of guessing about the rest. The visa options page lays the three categories out together.
Express costs more on every option, including the 5-year Tourist e-Visa, and is estimated at 2–3 working days against 4–5 for Regular. Choose it only if your dates are close, since neither estimate guarantees approval or delivery.
Open the requirements guide, which sets them out purpose by purpose. Treat it as a general reference, not a full list, and revisit it before applying because conditions can change.
Choose the category and service level that match your trip, then have your passport details, a recent photograph, your travel dates and any supporting documents ready, so you can enter every detail exactly as it appears in your documents.
